Dr. Richard Fiadomor, President of the Chamber of Local Government, has asserted that Ghana’s pressing issue is not the absence of laws but the lack of their enforcement.
Speaking on ABC News GH about illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, Dr. Fiadomor criticized the government’s perceived unwillingness to enforce existing laws effectively.
“The laws to govern the state are available,” he stated, adding that the government appears more focused on satisfying personal interests than addressing the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians.
He emphasized that robust enforcement could resolve many of the country’s persistent issues.
Dr. Fiadomor also expressed approval of the electoral defeat of certain Members of Parliament linked to scandals, suggesting it could serve as a step toward accountability and integrity in public service.
