The Minority in Parliament has accused the John Mahama-led government of misrepresenting the true state of the country in his State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered in Parliament this afternoon.
Speaking to the media after the State of the Nation Address (SONA), Stephen Amoah, the former Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso indicated that the NDC administration has borrowed nearly GHS 59 billion in less than two months, an amount they describe as “unprecedented.”
They insist that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) left behind a stable economy and a peaceful nation, contrary to the crisis President Mahama portrayed in his speech.
“The economic figures indicate that NPP left a better economy. Our economy was good enough. We left a better security. Ghana was peaceful until NDC took over,” a Minority spokesperson stated.
The opposition caucus continues to challenge the government’s economic policies, maintaining that the current hardships are a result of poor leadership, not the legacy of the previous administration.
