Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s legacy, stating that his leadership will forever be known for the passing and implementation of Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
In an interview with ABC News ahead of the president’s final State of the Nation Address (SONA), Dr. Boakye-Danquah highlighted the transformative impact of the Free SHS initiative, which was introduced in September 2017.
“The Free SHS policy has revolutionized Ghana’s education by making secondary education accessible to all, enhancing human capital development, reducing dropout rates, and empowering underprivileged communities,” he noted.
President Akufo-Addo will deliver his final SONA today, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 am, as mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
This will be his last address before the dissolution of the 8th Parliament on January 6, paving the way for the 9th Parliament to convene and elect its leadership.
The Parliamentary Service has assured smooth media coverage of these landmark events, emphasizing stringent security and accreditation protocols. Media personnel are required to adhere to strict guidelines, including designated spaces for interviews and broadcasts.
As Ghanaians anticipate the president’s reflections, Dr. Boakye-Danquah reaffirmed that the Free SHS policy will remain one of Akufo-Addo’s most enduring contributions to the nation’s development.
