The Head of Institutional Care Division of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Ofori Boadu has cautioned the general public about the outbreak of cholera outbreak in Ghana especially in the Western Region.
He made this cautioned statement when he paid a visit to the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly where the cholera outbreak is on the rise.
He had an interaction with the some staff of the hospital on how they’re being able to handle all the cholera outbreak in the municipality.
Speaking in an interview, Dr Ofori Boadu who’s the head of institutional care division at the Ghana Health Service stated that, there are four regions which have been affected by the outbreak and they are Greater Accra, Central, Eastern and Western Region but among these four, the Western Region has the highest number in terms of cases reported.
He further stated that, the cases in the other regions are calm and that their cases are on the low compared to that of the Western Region.
He recommended the staff of the Kwesimintsim Government Hospital for their good works to be able to help save lives since the outbreak in the municipality.
He therefore urged the general public to be cautious of their surroundings and improve their hygiene in their various places.
He therefore called on general public to come to their aid and help them provide some materials that can be used to help fight the cholera.
Speaking to the Medical Superintendent of Kwesimintsim Government Hospital, Dr Simon Osei Frimpong, he stated that their first case came in very late and that the person passed away but since then they have been able to do several training for their medical staffs to help cure the cases reported cases.
He mentioned that, their biggest challenge is the lack of facilities in the hospital and that most of their reserved facilities have been converted to help hold their patients in the hospital.
He urged the public to come to their aid since there’s insufficient resources to help the patients in the hospital.
