The Ministry of Health has announced a 50 per cent reduction in admission fees for students enrolling in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions beginning from the 2025/2026 academic year.

The intervention forms part of the government’s new “No-Fee-Stress” policy, which seeks to ease the financial burden on tertiary students across the country by absorbing about half of the approved fees for all first-year trainees in health-related institutions.

“This reduction fulfils the commitment of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to provide financial relief for parents and students who are determined to pursue their academic and professional dreams,” the Ministry said in a statement signed by its Deputy Director and Spokesperson, Tony Goodman.

The directive requires all training institutions to strictly adhere to the approved fee structure, warning that no institution is permitted to charge above the set amount or demand payment for items already covered under the policy.

The Ministry further cautioned that any principal who contravenes the directive or imposes unauthorised charges would do so “at his or her own peril.” It explained that the measure is part of efforts to protect the welfare of students while promoting equitable access to health training education nationwide.

Heads of Health Training Institutions have therefore been directed to begin the necessary processes to admit students under the revised fee structure for the upcoming academic year.
