The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has extended the curfew imposed on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, as part of renewed efforts to restore calm and maintain public safety.
Under the new directive, the curfew will run daily from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., beginning Thursday, January 22, 2026.
The decision follows recommendations from the Bono Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and has been effected through an Executive Instrument, underscoring government’s concern about the security situation in the area.
In a statement, government appealed to traditional authorities, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents of Sampa to remain calm and exercise restraint, urging them to adopt peaceful and lawful means in addressing grievances to help sustain stability in the community.
As part of the security measures, authorities have also reaffirmed a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within Sampa Township. Security agencies have been instructed to strictly enforce the directive, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.
Government says the measures are necessary to prevent further disturbances and to protect lives and property while efforts continue to resolve the underlying challenges confronting the area.
