Government Spokesperson Julius Kwame Anthony has said the government is committed to reducing the number of Ghanaians living in poverty through deliberate and people-centred policies.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, on Friday, January 23, 2026, he highlighted that the administration is actively implementing one policy after another to improve the welfare of citizens.
“We are actively lifting Ghanaians out [of poverty] with one policy followed by the other,” Julius Kwame Anthony said.
He also criticized the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, alleging that its policies worsened living conditions by contributing to inflation. “The NPP contributed to the impoverishment of Ghanaians and not uplifting them from poverty,” he stated.
Julius Kwame Anthony emphasized that the current government’s policies are designed to be deliberate, strategic, and centred on improving the welfare of ordinary citizens, addING that the administration is closely monitoring the impact of these policies to ensure they effectively address the multidimensional nature of poverty in Ghana.
The GSS Multidimensional Poverty Index provides a holistic assessment of deprivation across health, education, and living standards, giving the government a framework to implement more targeted interventions.
