The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has strongly denied allegations of conducting a purported vehicle auction, labeling the claims as “false” and warning the public against falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
In a statement issued on December 11, 2024, the authority clarified that all vehicle and goods auctions are conducted exclusively by its Customs Division under established protocols.
It called the public’s attention to a fabricated media release dated December 3, 2024, falsely attributed to the Commissioner-General.
According to the GRA, the fraudulent release bore the signature of former Commissioner-General Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah but was misleadingly linked to the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam.
“The fake notice is a complete fabrication,” the statement asserted, urging individuals to disregard its content and avoid engaging with unauthorized persons.
The GRA emphasized the need for the public to rely solely on its official communications for accurate and verified information.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the GRA advised citizens to exercise caution and vigilance against schemes exploiting its name.
It also reiterated its dedication to ensuring all auctions are conducted transparently and in compliance with Ghanaian laws, urging the public to report any suspicious activities to authorities.
