Asante Kotoko’s new head coach, Eric Tinkler, has sent a strong message to the club’s supporters, making it clear that he has arrived in Kumasi to bring success back to the Porcupine Warriors.
The experienced South African coach, who was unveiled as the Porcupine Warriors’ new head coach on Friday, pledged his commitment to restoring the club’s dominance both in Ghana and on the African continent.

In a passionate message to the Kotoko faithful, Tinkler said, “Fueled by passion, ambition and desire, I am here to win things.”
The former Bafana Bafana captain said he feels honoured to take charge of one of Africa’s most decorated football clubs and is eager to build a competitive team capable of challenging for silverware.
“I am honoured and excited to join one of Africa’s most storied football institutions,” Tinkler said.
“Asante Kotoko’s rich history, passion for success and ambition for development are well known across Africa. I look forward to working with the players, staff and management to build a team that can compete and win, both at home and on the continental stage.”
The 55-year-old also described his appointment as a proud moment in his career, adding that he is delighted to be associated with the Ghanaian giants at what he called a historic moment for the club.
Tinkler joins Kotoko with an impressive football résumé spanning more than 30 years. He has coached top South African clubs including Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Cape Town City FC, Maritzburg United and Bidvest Wits, while also enjoying a successful playing career that included appearances at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations-winning campaign with South Africa.
His appointment forms part of Asante Kotoko’s renewed drive to build a sustainable winning culture under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Menzo Purl.
With his clear declaration, expectations among the Porcupine Warriors faithful have risen as they look forward to a new chapter under one of Africa’s most experienced football managers.
