Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Majority Leader in Parliament, has assured the House that he remains in his current role, despite his recent approval as the Finance Minister.
Speaking in Parliament today, he emphasized, “I am still the leader of the house. I have not been sworn in as the Minister of Finance yet.”
Forson, who is slated to assume the Finance Minister role, confirmed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus will designate a new front bench leadership tomorrow, with Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, expected to step into the role of caucus leader.
“God willing, tomorrow the NDC caucus will designate our front bench,” he added.
With his shift, Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central and former Minister of Information and Media Relations, is tipped to assume the role of NDC Caucus Leader to allow Dr. Forson to focus on his new responsibilities as Finance Minister, with the hope of efficiently managing the country’s economic affairs without the distraction of parliamentary duties.
While Forson will relinquish his leadership position, he will still represent the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency and attend parliamentary sittings.
This shift in leadership is expected to ensure that Forson can dedicate his full attention to addressing Ghana’s pressing economic challenges while the NDC caucus moves forward with its new parliamentary direction.
