Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flag bearer, has praised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as a leader immune to corruption.
“One thing I can say is that I serve a flag bearer who is not corrupt,” Dr. Prempeh stated, adding that Bawumia would neither be swayed by power nor cover up corruption.
He made these remarks while receiving two copies of the book, The President Ghana Never Got, authored by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure, at his campaign office in Accra on Tuesday.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed his hope that the book would spark discussions and noted the varying perspectives on events documented within.
He acknowledged that while some may agree with the author’s perspectives, others might disagree or remain indifferent.
Dr. Prempeh also touched on the author’s preference for Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, emphasizing that everyone has their own criteria for forming opinions. “I hope that the book itself is objective, is balanced, and is fair,” he added.
In addition to discussing the book, Dr. Opoku Prempeh commended the author for his effort and revealed that he is currently writing three books about his own life and work in the ministries of Education and Energy.
He encouraged Ghanaian leaders to document their experiences and write early, drawing inspiration from countries like Nigeria, where leaders frequently publish memoirs.
Reflecting on the differences in perspective, Dr. Opoku Prempeh remarked, “If I sat where you sit, I might see things differently. And if you sat where I sit, you might see things differently.”
