Mahama Ayariga, the newly appointed Majority Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Caucus, has assured Ghanaians of his unwavering commitment to their welfare.
Speaking during a parliamentary sitting on Thursday, January 23, he declared, “As the leader of the house, I will always stand on the side of Ghanaians.”
Ayariga further expressed his readiness to collaborate with members of Parliament to deliver on their mandate, stating, “I look forward to working with you to ensure that the needs of our people are prioritized.”
In other developments, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin praised the achievements of the 8th Parliament, highlighting its recognition as one of the best-hung parliaments globally.
He noted the institution’s ability to deliver a smooth transition of power and emphasized the importance of building on its legacy.
“The drumbeat has changed from a hung parliament to a supermajority parliament, and it requires us to do better,” Bagbin stated.
He urged members to focus on rational and constructive debates in the national interest while calling on Ghanaians to celebrate the Parliament’s accomplishments rather than criticize them.
