President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to individuals lobbying for positions in his upcoming administration, urging them to be prepared for the demanding task of serving the Ghanaian people.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving Service held in his honour at the Ringway Gospel Church in Accra on Sunday, December 15, 2024, Mr. Mahama emphasized the need for diligence, modesty, and humility in governance.
“I have been receiving calls, knocks on my door, and text messages from people considering themselves for various positions,” he said.
“If you’re not preparing to work and serve the people of Ghana diligently, modestly, and with humility, then don’t come. Just stay where you are.”
The service, attended by his family, close friends, and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was a moment of gratitude and reflection.
Mr. Mahama described his political journey as divinely inspired, expressing thanks for God’s guidance and the support of Ghanaians throughout his campaign.
While celebrating the NDC’s electoral victory, Mr. Mahama underscored the challenges ahead, noting that the path to addressing Ghana’s pressing issues would not be easy.
