Former President John Dramani Mahama has officially inaugurated the Nana Owusu Akyeaw Brempong II Maternity Ward at the Atebubu Hospital in the Bono East Region.
The facility, funded entirely by Mr. Mahama, is equipped with state-of-the-art medical tools, including incubators, ultrasound machines, surgical and delivery beds, to provide essential maternal and neonatal care.
This initiative is part of his broader commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure in underserved communities.
During the inauguration, Mr. Mahama revealed that the project was a response to a request from the chief of Atebubu.
He expressed confidence that the maternity ward would improve maternal healthcare services, reduce infant and maternal mortality rates, and ensure safer deliveries for women in the area.
He stressed the importance of accessible and quality healthcare, describing the facility as a “lifeline for mothers and newborns in Atebubu and surrounding communities.”
Mr. Mahama extended gratitude to all who supported the project, including his wife, Lordina Mahama, for her steadfast encouragement.
He called on stakeholders to maintain the facility and ensure its long-term impact.
