Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has indicated that this year’s Independence Day celebration will retain a strong emphasis on youth participation and national reflection.
Speaking to Prime News on ABC News Gh, she explained that while the format has changed, the event will continue to highlight the achievements of young Ghanaians.
“We continued with the activities that involved children,” she said, referencing various regional and national competitions that culminated in the Presidential Awards.
“Today was the Presidential Awards, as most young ones had looked upon.” She added that the awards have always been an integral part of the celebrations.
The Presidency believes that the revised approach will maintain the significance of Independence Day while making it more cost-effective
“Especially this year, we are asking for a lot of sacrifices on the side of Ghanaians because of the difficulties we are dealing with in the economy and having to manage the small resources we have judiciously,” she stated.
