The Infant Jesus Lumen Christi School (IJIS) Global Alumni Association has ushered in a new chapter in its history following the successful election of a new national executive body to lead the association’s affairs and strengthen the bond among former students across Ghana and the diaspora.
The election conducted in the spirit of unity, transparency and shared purpose, reflects the association’s renewed commitment to preserving the school’s rich heritage while mobilising support for the continued growth and development of the institution.
Elected to steer the affairs of the association is Mr. Daniel Abban (Year Group 2000) as President. He will be assisted by Mr. Patrick Aduboahen (Master Pee, Year Group 2005) as Vice President.
The remaining executives are Mrs. Adwoa Agyeiwaah Nimoh (Year Group 2005) as Treasurer, Mr. Richard Osei-Agyeman (Year Group 2006) as Project Development Officer, Mr. Orleans Carlo Pablo (Year Group 2006) as Organiser and Public Relations Officer and Mr. Seth Owusu Amakye (Year Group 2010) as Secretary.
The newly elected executives are expected to champion initiatives that will deepen alumni engagement, promote mentorship for current pupils, support infrastructure development and preserve the enduring values upon which the school was founded.
Adopting the theme, “United by Faith, Connected for Impact, Building Our Legacy,” the association has reaffirmed its determination to unite graduates from different generations in pursuit of a common vision of excellence, service and giving back.
A School Built on Vision, Faith and Excellence
Founded in 1992 by Mrs. Rebecca Fameyeh, Infant Jesus Lumen Christi School has evolved from a visionary educational initiative into one of Kumasi’s respected private basic schools, renowned for academic excellence, discipline and moral formation.
Located at Ayeduase in the Ashanti Region, the school was established with the conviction that quality education should not only equip children with academic knowledge but also nurture integrity, faith, leadership and compassion.
Over the past three decades, IJIS has consistently lived up to that vision by providing holistic education rooted in Christian values, while producing graduates who continue to distinguish themselves in diverse professions both in Ghana and abroad.
The institution has earned a reputation for maintaining high academic standards, promoting discipline, encouraging innovation and developing confident young leaders prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
Throughout its history, the school has invested significantly in quality teaching, character formation, extracurricular development and community service, making it a preferred choice for many parents seeking a balanced education for their children.
Its impact is reflected in the achievements of its alumni many of whom have excelled in medicine, engineering, law, business, academia, technology, media, entrepreneurship and public service.
Among its distinguished old students is Dr. Rose-Mary Owusuaa Mensah Gyening, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the first woman to earn a PhD in Computer Science from the university. Her accomplishments continue to inspire younger generations of IJIS students to pursue excellence in education, innovation and leadership.
A New Chapter for the Alumni Association
The election of the new IJIS Global Alumni executives represents more than a routine change in leadership. It signals the beginning of a renewed drive to harness the collective expertise, influence and resources of former students in support of their alma mater.
The association is expected to roll out programmes aimed at strengthening networking opportunities among alumni, creating scholarship schemes for deserving pupils, supporting educational projects, mentoring students and contributing to the school’s long term development agenda.
As the newly elected executives assume office, expectations remain high that the association will continue to foster stronger collaboration among old students while promoting the ideals that have defined Infant Jesus Lumen Christi School since its establishment in 1992.
More than three decades after Mrs. Rebecca Fameyeh laid the foundation for the institution, Infant Jesus Lumen Christi School continues to stand as a testament to the transformative power of quality education, visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence.
With a growing global alumni network united by a shared identity and purpose, the future of the institution appears firmly anchored in the values that have shaped generations of distinguished graduates.
One Family. One Legacy. Stronger Together. Impacting Generations.
