Ghanaian midfielder Elisha Owusu has expressed his disappointment over missing the Black Stars’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar due to injury but remains confident in his teammates’ ability to secure positive results.
Owusu was initially included in Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for the international fixtures but has since been replaced by Lawrence Agyekum after sustaining an injury over the weekend while playing for AJ Auxerre.
Providing an update on his situation, the French-based midfielder shared his frustration but also expressed unwavering support for his national team.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to join the squad for our FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to injury, but I have full confidence in my teammates to get the job done,” Owusu wrote on social media.
While disappointed to miss out, he remains optimistic about his recovery and pledged to support the team from afar.
“It’s never easy to miss out, but I believe everything happens for a reason, and my focus now is on recovery. I know this team is ready to fight, and I’ll be supporting every step of the way,” he added.
Owusu also took a moment to acknowledge the fans, urging them to keep backing the team as they push for a strong performance.
“To the fans, your support means everything. Keep believing in the team, and let’s push forward together!”
Ghana will host Chad on Friday, March 21, at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Morocco on March 24 to face Madagascar in another crucial qualifier.
With the Black Stars currently tied at the top of Group I with Comoros on nine points, these matches will be vital in boosting their chances of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
