The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has imposed a curfew on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region, taking effect immediately from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am each day until further notice.
Acting on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council, Mr. Quartey made the decision through an Executive Instrument to address the ongoing chieftaincy disputes that have stirred tensions in the community.
According to a statement from the Interior Ministry, the government calls for calm, urging chiefs, opinion leaders, and the youth to seek peaceful resolutions and avoid escalating conflicts.
A total ban has also been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and any offensive weapons within Sampa Township, with authorities issuing a strict warning.
“Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the Ministry stated, signaling a zero-tolerance approach to prevent further unrest.
This move comes amid mounting concerns over local stability, with authorities striving to safeguard peace as the community faces significant challenges.
