Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has warned that Ghanaians could face severe hardship if former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not elected President in the 2028 elections.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in the Ashanti Region on September 10, Hammond expressed strong confidence in the former vice president’s leadership abilities, emphasizing that he has the competence to manage the country effectively if given the mandate.
Hammond dismissed criticisms targeting Dr. Bawumia, particularly those concerning his faith, describing claims that he cannot be President because he is a Muslim as “madness.”
“Have you monitored Bawumia’s capabilities and hard work? It’s madness to say Bawumia is a Muslim, so he can’t be President. We will suffer if Bawumia is not elected as President,” Hammond declared.
He urged Ghanaians to prioritize competence and dedication over religious considerations when choosing the country’s next leader, stressing that leadership should be evaluated based on performance rather than faith.
