Renowned Ghanaian actor cum politician, John Dumelo has been endorsed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon ahead of the 2024 general elections.
This development comes on the back of the withdrawal by two opposing candidates, including his close associate Fred Nuamah, from the race in the preceding week, citing a consensus reached through diplomatic negotiations.
Announcing the good news on his Facebook page yesterday, August 13, the actor expressed his appreciation to everyone for the continuous support to make his parliamentary race a possibility.
“Yesterday, I was declared the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency NDC parliamentary candidate for the 2024 general elections. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. I really appreciate it. Together let’s win this seat. This is our time. #idey4u #givechangechance,” he posted.
The leadership of the NDC in the constituency also called on its supporters to rally behind Dumelo in win the seat from the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP)’s Lydia Alhassan.
This is the second time the award winning actor will be representing the NDC party as their parliamentary candidate after losing in the 2020 elections.
