Kadewaso Water System, a vital resource for the community, has been struggling financially, earning as little as GHS 1,000 monthly, according to management.
The drop in revenue has been attributed to the rainy season, during which commuters prefer harvesting rainwater over purchasing from the water system.
“We are unable to even raise GHS 1,000 a month. Salaries of employees are below minimum wage,” Fuseni Abdul Razat, Manager of the Water System, revealed.
Further compounding the financial woes, the Attorney General’s 2024 report, specifically paragraph 1287, highlighted that the Kadewaso Water System owes significant amounts in Social Security contributions and penalties.
Additionally, there are outstanding electricity bills, though the exact amount remains undisclosed.
The precarious financial situation underscores the challenges faced by the water system in maintaining its operations and meeting its obligations.
In response to the dire situation, the committee has vowed to address the issue with the Member of Parliament for the Kintampo North constituency, Hon Joseph Kwame Kumah, also known as Jakala.
The committee aims to seek his assistance in resolving the financial difficulties faced by the water system.
