Former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has been transferred to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra following his arrest on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
Jumah, who was picked up by police while celebrating his birthday at a private residence in Kumasi, is under investigation for alleged financial impropriety during his tenure at the state-owned distillery.
He was initially held at the Ashanti Regional Police Command before being moved to Accra for further interrogation.
His arrest follows an earlier operation on May 15, when security operatives attempted to retrieve state vehicles reportedly still in his possession.
Although Jumah was not home at the time, the operation intensified scrutiny on his handling of state assets.
Sources close to the case allege that the former GIHOC boss is being investigated for unauthorised asset sales and questionable vehicle acquisitions that took place while he was in office.
