Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Tanko Rashid Computer, has served notice that the party is preparing legal action to challenge the eligibility of MPs in two additional constituencies after securing a vacancy declaration in the Kpandai Constituency.
In an interview on ABC In the Morning, Dr. Tanko insisted that the NDC’s move is grounded firmly in constitutional procedure and not political intimidation, defending the parliamentary processes that led to the formal declaration of the Kpandai seat as vacant.
“The Clerk of Parliament acted within the law,” he maintained, dismissing suggestions of partisan influence.
He disclosed that beyond Kpandai, the NDC has identified two more constituencies where, according to him, MPs may have breached constitutional provisions regarding their eligibility to remain in Parliament.
“We want to finish Kpandai. There are two more constituencies we are targeting, but now we won’t let them know,” he said, declining to disclose details for strategic reasons.
He warned that the party will not hesitate to trigger constitutional processes to unseat any Member of Parliament deemed to have used improper or unlawful means to enter the House.
“If you violate the Constitution using subtle means to get yourself elected into the August House, we will also use the same constitutional process to get you out,” Dr. Tanko stated.
He stressed that the party remains committed to ensuring fairness, constitutional compliance, and integrity in Ghana’s parliamentary representation.
