Ghana international Mohammed Kudus is facing a race against time to return from injury before the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering a fresh injury setback, raising concerns about his availability for the global tournament.
The 25-year-old forward had been on the path to recovery after sustaining a quad tendon injury earlier in the year while featuring for Tottenham Hotspur. Initial reports from then interim manager Igor Tudor suggested that Kudus was making encouraging progress and edging closer to a return to full training.
Tudor had indicated that the attacker could gradually reintegrate into team activities within weeks, noting visible improvement in his recovery, including light work with the ball.
However, the situation has since deteriorated. After recently resuming individual training, Kudus is reported to have suffered a relapse, this time involving a hamstring injury. Medical assessments have confirmed the setback, with indications that surgical intervention may be required.
The latest development is expected to sideline Kudus for the remainder of the season, casting serious doubt over his readiness for the upcoming World Cup campaign.
The injury is also a significant blow for Tottenham Hotspur, with newly appointed manager Roberto De Zerbi potentially forced to navigate the closing stages of the season without one of his key attacking players.
Prior to his injury troubles, Kudus had been in impressive form, contributing nine goal involvements across domestic and European competitions—highlighting his importance to both club and country.
With the World Cup fast approaching, Ghana will be anxiously monitoring his recovery, hoping one of their most influential players can return to full fitness in time.
