The counting of votes is underway in the Kumawu by-election.
Polls closed at 5PM after it opened at 7AM on Tuesday, May 23.
According to reports, the provisional results coming in projects New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Ernest Yaw Anim, to be in pole position to win the contest.
For instance, at Polling Station A, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Ernest Anim polled 138 while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Kwasi Amankwaa polled 16, with the NPP recording more wins at the over 75 polling station.
There was heavy security presence across the constituency with the Inspector General of Police leading the team to ensure a smooth and peaceful atmosphere for the exercise.
