Former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have sued Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over what they describe as “unjustifiably harsh” bail conditions.
The couple, who remain in custody, were granted bail at GH¢200 million—GH¢120 million for Adu-Boahene and GH¢80 million for his wife. Their legal team, led by Samuel Atta Akyea Esq., argues that the bail conditions are excessive and appear designed to circumvent constitutional protections against indefinite detention without trial.

The lawsuit, filed at the Human Rights Division of the High Court in Accra, seeks a revision of the bail terms to ensure their release on more reasonable conditions while investigations continue.
EOCO is currently probing the couple over allegations of financial misconduct, but their lawyers insist that the charges remain vague and that the state has yet to provide concrete evidence to justify such stringent bail requirements.
The defense argues that the EOCO’s move suggests an attempt to detain them indefinitely rather than securing their cooperation in the investigation.
The case is scheduled for hearing on May 28, 2025, where Adu-Boahene’s legal team will push for a bail reduction and challenge the prosecution’s approach. The outcome of the hearing is expected to set a legal precedent on the fairness of bail conditions in high-profile financial cases.
