Ghanaian dancer and creative Lisa Naa Quama Darko, popularly known as Lisa Quama, is set to make a notable mark at this year’s New York Fashion Week after securing appearances across three separate shows.
The DWP Academy member is expected to participate in three shows during the September 2026 fashion calendar, which coincides with Climate Week activities in New York.
The development, first reported by Creatizine and confirmed in a September 10 update, makes Quama the first Ghanaian creative to participate across three separate shows during the fashion week period.
Quama has built a reputation as a dancer, choreographer and content creator, combining traditional Ghanaian dance with contemporary and hip-hop movements. Her work with DWP Academy, alongside viral performances and international appearances, has helped establish her as one of Ghana’s recognisable young dance talents.
Her connection to fashion has also grown through commercial campaigns, fashion-related events and her distinctive preference for unisex and tailored clothing.
While details of the three shows and the exact nature of her roles are yet to be announced, her participation could include performance, choreography, modelling or a combination of creative disciplines.
Her upcoming appearances are expected to further highlight the growing presence of Ghanaian and African creatives on international fashion platforms, while bringing dance and movement into a space traditionally dominated by models and designers.
