Madina Member of Parliament Francis-Xavier Sosu is in stable condition after falling ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Parliament, in a statement issued by its Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah, said the MP received immediate assistance after the incident and was subsequently taken to a medical facility for further care.
According to Parliament, Mr Sosu is currently under the supervision of his medical team and remains in stable condition.
The incident occurred while the Madina MP was speaking at a GIMPA event. Videos circulating on social media showed him appearing unwell during his presentation, prompting concern among members of the public.
Mr Sosu had been speaking about leadership, public service and his personal experiences when he suddenly paused during his remarks.
He had reportedly said, “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark,” before showing signs of exhaustion. Members of the protocol team then intervened and assisted him from the stage for medical attention.
In a separate statement, the MP’s office also assured the public that he was doing well and had received the necessary medical care.
The office expressed appreciation for the messages of concern, prayers and goodwill received following the incident, while urging the public to disregard unverified reports and speculation circulating online.
Parliament has similarly appealed to the public and the media to refrain from sharing footage of the incident, citing respect for Mr Sosu and his family. It also urged the public to avoid speculating about the cause of the incident and to respect the family’s privacy.
Parliament thanked GIMPA management and staff, medical personnel and others who responded promptly to assist the MP.
