Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey has been appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) by President John Dramani Mahama.
The appointment, effective immediately, was confirmed in a letter dated January 21, 2025, signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President.
In the letter, President Mahama expressed confidence in Dr. Abbey’s ability to lead COCOBOD effectively, stating that his leadership would help sustain the cocoa sector, a critical pillar of Ghana’s agricultural and economic development.
Dr. Abbey’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for COCOBOD, which plays a vital role in supporting millions of cocoa farmers and driving national revenue.
His leadership is expected to bring strategic focus and innovation to address pressing issues in the sector, including farmer welfare and production sustainability.
