President John Dramani Mahama has issued a directive dissolving all boards of statutory corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former Nana Akufo-Addo administration.
The directive, effective immediately, follows the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), and signals the beginning of Mahama’s efforts to reorganize key governmental structures.
Signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, the notice formally informs members of affected boards, corporations, commissions, and councils that their tenures concluded with the assumption of office by President Mahama on January 7, 2025.
“In accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), all members of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former President or a former Minister of State ceased to hold office on 7th January 2025, following the assumption of office of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement read.
However, the directive clarified that independent constitutional bodies are exempt from this dissolution.
Affected boards and commissions will be reconstituted in due course, following their respective enabling laws.
