President-elect John Dramani Mahama and outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo have inaugurated Ghana’s 2024 National Transition Team, setting the stage for a seamless transfer of power.
The meeting, held at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, underscores Ghana’s commitment to its democratic principles as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration prepares to hand over to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The National Transition Team, mandated by law, is tasked with facilitating the handover process, including briefing the incoming government on key state matters, ensuring access to vital information, and coordinating Mahama’s formal inauguration.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of unity and stability during this critical phase, with Mahama expressing his readiness to work collaboratively for the nation’s benefit.
Outgoing President Akufo-Addo pledged his administration’s full cooperation to ensure the incoming government transitions smoothly.
“I assure him [Mahama] of my full support and that of my government,” Akufo-Addo stated, reinforcing the collaborative spirit.
Mahama, in turn, lauded the organized process and affirmed his commitment to upholding Ghana’s democratic values.
