Adib Saani, a security analyst, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s proactive approach to addressing the volatile conflict in Bawku, highlighting the President’s recent visit to the area as a testament to his commitment to restoring peace; Saani emphasized that the President’s presence during a peak period of unrest demonstrates his seriousness in tackling the issue head-on.
Speaking on ABC News GH, Saani remarked, “He is committed to addressing the issue,” further underscoring that Bawku remains a region of profound significance to the President, whose personal engagement reflects the gravity with which he views the ongoing crisis.
The analyst also touched on the President’s intention to appoint security-focused ministers within the week, a move aimed at bolstering efforts to stabilize the region, which has been plagued by chieftaincy conflicts and violent attacks, including the recent ambush and arson of a vegetable-laden truck in Walewale.
Saani expressed confidence in Ghana’s security institutions, asserting that their understanding of the situation, coupled with the President’s direct briefings, would expedite the restoration of calm in the area.
As attacks along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway intensify, President Mahama has called for patience and unity among residents, assuring them of his administration’s resolve to return Bawku to the peaceful state it enjoyed during his previous tenure.
