The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested Nii Baah Afful, the man seen in a viral video brutally assaulting a young woman carrying a baby.
The disturbing footage, which sparked widespread outrage, showed Afful repeatedly striking the woman with a stick after she informed him that she had found a new partner who was “more handsome and responsible” and no longer wished to be with him.
Advocacy groups and concerned citizens swiftly condemned the act, calling for immediate action to ensure justice for the victim.
In response to the public outcry, the police confirmed in a statement that Afful is in custody and assisting with investigations.
“The suspect, Nii Baah Afful, is currently in police custody, assisting the investigations and will be put before the court to face justice,” the statement read.
Authorities have assured the public that the case will be handled with urgency, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring accountability for acts of violence against women.
