Ibrahim Mohammed, the man behind the viral video issuing violent threats against public officials, has been arrested by the police.
The arrest followed a nationwide manhunt launched on Tuesday after the video began circulating online.
In the video, Mohammed, who identified himself as “Commander Kanawu Revolution Leader,” threatened to shoot several key figures, including Inspector-General of Police George Akuffo Dampare and Interior Minister Henry Quartey.
In a statement, the police confirmed the arrest, noting that the capture was a result of coordinated efforts and credible information from the public.
Authorities had offered a GH₵50,000 reward for information leading to Mohammed’s arrest, underscoring the seriousness of the threats.
The police also emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of public officials and warned against any acts that could jeopardize national security.
In the video, Mohammed accused the IGP and the Interior Minister of orchestrating a scheme to recruit people falsely into the police force in the Ashanti Region. He claimed the recruitment was a deliberate ploy to influence the upcoming elections, stoking fears of election manipulation.
The police, however, dismissed these accusations, urging the public to rely on verified sources of information and warning against the spread of misinformation.
