The Minority in Parliament has accused President John Mahama’s administration of excessive borrowing, claiming that he has borrowed an unprecedented GH₵59 billion in under two months.
Speaking after the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament this afternoon, the Minority argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government left behind a stronger economy than what the President is portraying.
“The economic figures indicate that NPP left a better economy. Our economy was good enough. We left better security.
“Ghana was peaceful till the NDC took over,” they stated.
They criticized Mahama’s depiction of a struggling economy, arguing that his administration should focus on policy measures instead of blaming the previous government.
The Minority further insisted that Ghanaians deserve the full picture of the country’s financial state, urging the government to be transparent about its borrowing and expenditure.
