Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has visited former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, following a controversial raid on his residence by National Security operatives allegedly led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat.
The Effutu MP reportedly expressed outrage at the incident and consoled Dr. Addison, assuring him that he would demand answers from the government regarding the actions of the armed security personnel.
The raid, which took place on March 19 at Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge residence in Accra, involved approximately 20 heavily armed men, some wearing balaclavas and carrying AK-47 rifles.

Upon arrival, the security team disabled the property’s CCTV system before demanding to be led to “vaults” they believed contained cash. Dr. Addison, however, informed them that no such vaults existed.
Despite this, the operatives allegedly ransacked the house but failed to find any vaults or significant amounts of cash. After the fruitless search, they seized the CCTV monitor and control unit before leaving.

A close associate of Dr. Addison’s family described them as deeply traumatized by the incident. This marks the second such raid reportedly led by Mr. Jakpa since President John Mahama assumed office on January 7, 2025.
In a similar operation on February 10, a group of armed men raided the Labone residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. That raid was caught on CCTV, with the footage later made public.
