The High Court in Accra has granted bail to Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), and six others charged with corruption-related offences.
The accused, who appeared before the Criminal Division 3 of the High Court on Tuesday, July 23, 2025, include Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bernako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquah.
Each of the seven individuals was granted bail to the tune of GH₵2 million with two sureties.
One of the sureties must be a public servant earning at least GH₵5,000 monthly and must also provide proof of ownership of landed property.
In addition to these conditions, the court directed the accused persons to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) every two weeks.
The group faces 25 charges in total, including extortion by a public officer, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and money laundering.
The charges stem from an alleged scheme involving over GH₵280 million. The case has been adjourned to August 26, 2025, when substantive hearings are expected to commence.
