Policy Analyst Peter Tekpe has endorsed Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent presidential aspirant and leader of the New Force Movement, recently launched virtual manifesto, “12 Pillars for Economic Freedom,” asserting that the policies proposed are practical and achievable.
Speaking on ABC News Ghana on Monday, 2nd September, 2024, Tekpe emphasized, “what the gentleman is saying, in fact, we can do, and they are doable,” highlighting the feasibility of Bediako’s economic strategies.
Tekpe elaborated on the need for a shift from traditional macro-level approaches to addressing the fundamental issues affecting Ghana’s economy.
He noted that past leaders have overlooked the real sector, resulting in a weakened economic foundation.
“The reason why our Cedi keeps depreciating is because all the past political leaders have only been tackling the issues at the macro level and leave the real sector,” Tekpe explained.
He praised Bediako’s focus on industrialization as a necessary step towards stabilizing the economy.
Further, Tekpe pointed out that unstable political conditions have deterred potential investors from returning to Ghana despite their readiness to invest.
“There are so many who want to come back, but because of the unstable political environment, they are not willing to return, despite having huge amounts of money looking for places to invest,” he said.
He commended Bediako’s innovative approach to resource utilization, stating, “This young man is looking at areas where we can tap resources without going to borrow.”
Tekpe concluded that Bediako’s policies merit serious consideration, underscoring the need for a critical evaluation by politicians.
” The politicians know that, the policies he is turning out is something we need to look at critically.”
