Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of spreading falsehoods regarding the voter registration process.
Speaking on ABC IN THE MORNING on Monday, September 16, 2024, Dr. Danquah addressed concerns about the government’s silence on the credibility of the voter register raised by opposition parties.
“I don’t think the government is silent,” he stated, assuring that the government is confident in the electoral process led by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Dr. Danquah criticized the NDC for its persistent attempts to discredit voter registration, accusing the opposition of creating baseless allegations.
He expressed satisfaction with the current voter register, stating, “We are okay with the representation of the mandate of the Ghanaian people.”
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains focused on preparing its polling station agents and campaigning across the country.
“We are confident that on the 7th of December, 2024, the Ghanaian people will vote for none other than Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he added.
Meanwhile, the NDC plans to hold a demonstration scheduled 17TH September, 2024, which seeks to pressure the EC to ensure a transparent electoral process.
Their leadership insists that the protest is not directed at EC commissioners but is focused on addressing discrepancies in the voter register ahead of the December 7 elections.
Reacting to the demonstration, Dr. Danquah criticized the NDC for continually discrediting voter registration, asserting, “The NDC are making a lot of allegations and creating a lot of falsehood.”
