The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to urgently convene an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting to address growing concerns surrounding the availability of Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) and the reported disappearance of a component of Biometric Verification registration kits.
In a letter signed by the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC emphasized the need for swift action in resolving these pressing issues to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
“The NDC wishes to request for an emergency IPAC meeting to enable all political parties to discuss these crucial issues and come to a consensus on how to promote free, fair, and transparent elections,” the party said in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
Expressing concern over the reported scarcity of Biometric Verification Devices and the disappearance of essential registration kit components, the NDC underscored the significance of addressing these challenges promptly. The party stressed that failure to do so could jeopardize the fairness and transparency of the upcoming December polls.
The NDC emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among political parties and the Electoral Commission in tackling electoral challenges effectively. The party highlighted the EC’s previous commitment to convene an IPAC meeting on these matters and urged prompt action in fulfilling this commitment.
“Additionally, per your calendar, you were supposed to call an IPAC meeting to enable all political parties to discuss these issues and come to a consensus on how to promote free, fair, and transparent elections,” it added.
