Dr. Dockson Adomako Kissi, Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, has responded to the opposition’s allegations of financial mismanagement in the National Cathedral project.
Speaking on ABC News GH, Dr. Kissi acknowledged that, like many in the NDC, he too held suspicions about financial misconduct in the past.
However, after extensive investigations into the NDC’s tenure, he concluded that while there were instances of inflated figures, there was no substantial loss to the state.
Despite the NDC’s continued criticism, Dr. Kissi expressed confidence in the NPP’s chances in the upcoming elections.
He reassured the public that any financial irregularities would be uncovered through an audit process, regardless of the election results.
“I’m not troubled by their perception, but I know for sure we are winning this election,” he declared, emphasizing that the truth will come to light through proper accounting procedures.
Dr. Kissi also touched on the contentious National Cathedral project, revealing that not all stakeholders agreed with its location.
He and others believed the cathedral would have been better situated outside Accra to make it more accessible to Ghanaians from across the country.
Despite concerns over the project’s increasing scope and cost, Dr. Kissi remains optimistic about its long-term potential, comparing it to the U.S. Capitol as a future landmark for national events.
He stressed, “It is something that will be there, not necessarily for one government, but for all governments in this country.”
