The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to broadcast its meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) over the 2024 provisional voters register, despite the EC’s refusal to allow live coverage.
In a letter dated August 27, the NDC requested a meeting with the EC to address discrepancies in the voter register, followed by a request on September 5 for the session to be aired live.
However, the EC declined this request, sparking dissatisfaction from the party.
Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections, stated in a Facebook post that the party remains committed to ensuring the meeting will be streamed live for public transparency.
He emphasized the importance of transparency in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections.
“The EC cannot escape public scrutiny and forensic audit of the voters register!” Dr. Boamah wrote, asserting the party’s stance on accountability.
He also raised concerns about potential manipulation of the electoral process, warning that any attempts to benefit the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not be tolerated.
Dr. Boamah further criticized the “LOUD SILENCE” of the NPP in the face of alleged anomalies in the register. He also called out other institutions for their lack of action, describing their silence as “telling.”
The NDC has made it clear that they will broadcast the meeting, set for Friday, September 6, from the EC’s corporate office, regardless of the EC’s decision, reaffirming their commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
