Governance expert Dr. Richard Fiadomor has urged Ghana’s newly appointed Regional Ministers to deliver effectively despite the absence of MMDCEs and Chief Executives, whose appointments have been revoked.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Dr. Fiadomor noted that while the ministers’ roles are crucial for regional development, their effectiveness could be hindered until substantive MMDCEs are appointed.
“Their job is cut out for them,” he said, adding, “If you have a Chief Executive sleeping on the job, they can be checked by the Regional Minister. But for now, their work will not be too effective.”
President John Dramani Mahama recently nominated 10 young and dynamic Regional Ministers as part of his broader youth empowerment agenda.
These appointments, the youngest in Ghana’s history, include Dr. Frank Amoakohene for the Ashanti Region, the youngest ever to hold such a position.
The nominations align with the establishment of the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, reflecting the President’s manifesto commitment to bridging regional inequalities and empowering young leaders.
