The Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) is awaiting formal approval from the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to release the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, for questioning over recent allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering.
Speaking in an interview, Kwakye Ofosu disclosed that Rev. Ntim Fordjour has not yet responded to requests from security agencies after publicly claiming that two aircraft recently landed in Ghana with illegal drugs and large sums of cash.
“The NIB wrote to the Speaker to release Ntim Fordjour. The Speaker is yet to respond to the NIB, as far as I am aware. Anytime the Speaker responds to it, he will be available for questions,” the Minister explained.
Kwakye Ofosu underscored the need for transparency and accountability in such high-profile investigations, stating that the public deserves clarity on the matter.
“I have requested that the interrogation be released to the public,” he added, suggesting that open scrutiny could help uphold public trust in the process and in Parliament’s role in addressing serious allegations.
