The Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has firmly dismissed allegations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to bring in the military during tomorrow’s parliamentary sitting.
His response comes amidst growing concerns over potential disruptions in Parliament.
“No, no, we believe in the rule of law,” Dr. Kissi stated, emphasizing that in Parliament, maintaining order is the responsibility of the Marshals, not the military.
“In parliament, the authority for exercising order is the marshals not the military.
“I don’t think that we will break that rule. The Mashal’s will maintain order, they will protect the lives of both the NPP and the NDC.”
Dr. Kissi went on to assure the public that the safety of both NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) members is a priority.
“The Marshals will maintain order; they will protect the lives of both the NPP and the NDC,” he said.
“I sincerely know that we intend to ensure that the integrity of parliament is maintained,” he added.
His remarks aimed to dispel any lingering doubts about the party’s commitment to democratic principles in handling tomorrow’s session.
Governance expert Dr. Fred Oduro also weighed in, calling for respect for the rule of law.
His comments follow claims that the Supreme Court’s decision to halt the Speaker’s declaration of four vacant parliamentary seats was politically influenced.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Dr. Oduro warned that allegations of bias undermine the credibility of the legal system and must be addressed promptly to safeguard public trust.
