In a bid to garner backing for his presidential aspirations within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a prominent flagbearer hopeful, is set to embark on a crucial campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.
The campaign tour, scheduled for Monday, October 2, through to Tuesday, October 3, 2023, will see Dr. Akoto engage with party delegates at various strategic locations throughout the region.
On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Dr. Akoto plans to intensify his outreach efforts by directly interacting with polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and constituency executives. This carefully planned series of interactions is anticipated to serve as a crucial platform for Dr. Akoto, a former two-term Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso constituency, to convey his “Message of Hope.”
He aims to persuade party delegates that he is the most qualified candidate to not only maintain the party’s grip on power but also to effectively address the multifaceted welfare challenges currently facing the party’s supporters.
Dr. Akoto finds himself in a fierce competition for the NPP’s flagbearer position, contending against notable figures such as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai Nimoh.
The homecoming event will also afford the delegates the opportunity to ask Dr. Akoto questions pertaining to the forward march of the party, especially, at a time when unity in the party has been questioned by political analysts.
