Government spokesperson on governance and security, Palgrave Boakye Danquah, has rejected claims that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) intends to rig the 2024 elections.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, he emphasized that this year’s elections will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, with no interference from the NPP.
His statement came in response to recent allegations from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which accused the NPP of plotting election manipulation with the help of security services.
Danquah criticized the NDC for spreading fear and misinformation, saying their accusations were part of a broader strategy to undermine trust in Ghana’s democratic institutions.
He stressed that fostering distrust in these institutions would only jeopardize the peace and integrity of the upcoming elections.
“The NDC has always been at the back bench trying to cause fear and panic, distorting the truth to misinform and disinform the public,” he added.
In response to the NDC’s press conference, Danquah asserted that such claims were baseless and part of a larger agenda to make the public believe the NPP is planning to rig the election.
He called for unity and confidence in the electoral process, noting that bringing experienced individuals into the conversation would ensure the credibility of the electoral system.
Danquah reiterated that the NPP is committed to a transparent election and that no amount of unfounded allegations would derail their efforts.
