Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has attributed her defeat in the parliamentary primaries to a misunderstanding by her party, which she believes led to punitive actions against her.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen on February 18, she stated, “That’s what I think the party misunderstood me on and decided to punish me, and that cost me my primaries.”
Safo alleged that party officials orchestrated her loss, believing she had not treated them well, despite her efforts to make amends.
Beyond her personal setback, Safo pointed to a broader issue within Ghana’s political landscape, expressing concerns over the limited number of female lawmakers.
“That is why I stated earlier that we have fewer female lawmakers in Parliament,” she noted, implying that her experience reflects a systemic challenge faced by women in politics.
