The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to focus heavily on youth employment in its upcoming manifesto, aiming to create one million jobs for the youth. Prince Sadat, an Administrator with the NPP Youth Wing, highlighted the party’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment during an interview with ABC News Ghana.
“We should expect a manifesto that will give hope to the youth of Ghana. For ours is the youth. NPP is the only party that,” he stated.
Prince Sadat emphasized the party’s track record in youth-dominated areas, pointing to the 2020 election data where the NPP won 76 out of 108 campus polling stations, compared to the NDC’s 32.
He noted that Ghana’s youthful population, which exceeds 11.7 million people on the voters’ roll, has consistently favored the NPP. “If we are winning in excess of 70% of the youthful dominated population, this should rather be youth-centered relative to the manifesto,” he added.
To build on this support, the NPP’s manifesto will focus on job creation in emerging sectors like coding and digitalization, which are not traditionally associated with the party’s strongholds.
Sadat assured that the NPP is committed to reaching every part of the country with its youth-centered initiatives, aiming to significantly reduce youth unemployment and stimulate economic growth.
