Political scientist and former NPP member, Dr. Amoako Baah, has condemned the ruling party’s decision to hold its presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, describing it as unconstitutional and a breach of the party’s internal rules.
Speaking to ABC News GH, Dr. Baah argued that the party cannot proceed with the primaries without first amending its constitution, emphasizing that such fundamental changes require formal processes that have not been observed.
He stressed that any attempt to bypass these procedures undermines the legitimacy of the election and could create legal challenges for the party.
According to Dr. Baah, adherence to constitutional protocols is essential to uphold democratic principles within the NPP and maintain confidence among its members and the public.
